This year was a great year for racing in the Tri-Cities. TORCA held three enduro races as part of the TORCA 500 Series. Two of these races were on Burke Mountain, on 2 separate courses and the participants enjoyed good weather and fun times. One race was held on Eagle Mountain, and although it was a bit wet, there were still lots of smiles from the racers. We would like to thank everyone who came out to volunteer or race as well as our sponsors, Kinetik Cycles, Trek Bicycle Store Coquitlam, Norco and Trailside Physiotherapy. We also had a lot of local racers representing the Tri-Cities in Provincial, National and World level races.  Here are the highlights from some of our local racers (in no particular order):

Adam Woodhouse:  

•    1st Place at Big White BC Cup/ Provincial DH Champs, Elite
•    2nd at Sun Peaks BC Cup DH
•    4th at Silver Star Canada Cup DH
•    1st Overall for BC Cup DH Series, Elite Men for the 2nd year in a row

Kirk McDowall:

• 2nd Place at Canadian Nationals DH, Elite
• 3rd at Crankworx Canadian Open, Elite
• 15th at UCI DH World Championships at Mont Sainte Anne

Bryan Gregory:

• 2nd Place at Pemberton Enduro, Elite
• 6th at Fraser Valley Enduro
• 11th Overall in the Canadian Enduro Series

Sandra Walter:

• 18th at UCI XC World Championships at Mont Sainte Anne, Elite (career best result)
• Racing in her 3rd Worlds at MSA; first time as a Junior in 1998
• 3rd at Canadian Nationals XC, Elite

Milton McConville:

• 2nd at Enduro National Championships, Junior
• 3rd at DH National Championships
• 7th at Whistler EWS
• Competing at DH World Championships

Lief Rodgers:

• XC Provincial Champion, Junior
• Competed at XC events in California, Alberta, Ontario & Quebec
• Racing for the High Performance BC Team & Cannondale

Geza Rodgers:

• Raced a full season of XC and Cross
• Perfect season of Cyclo Cross Racing, including Provincial Champs & Nationals   
• Raced her first full Enduros
• 3rd Place, Junior at Vedder Enduro

Jake Rodgers:

• Masters Provinical Cross Champion
• 2nd at Masters XC Provincials
• Masters Champion at Crankworx EWS

Bryan Gioia:

• Provincial DH Champion, Masters 50+
• National DH Champion, Masters 50+
• 4th place at World Masters DH Championships at Mont Saine Anne

Karaleen Gioia:

• 1st Place at Kicking Horse BC Cup DH, Masters 30+
• World Masters DH Champion, 45-49

Congratulations to all the racers out there.  If you race or know of someone who is also representing the Tri-Cities, please let us know.  We would love to follow the adventures of our members!  We especially love to see the younger riders out racing, having fun and progressing with their skills.  The future looks bright for our local racing scene!
